I’ve been going crazy trying to think of a “theme” for our wedding and it’s been impossible!!
Mainly because I’m extremely indecisive, so it’s difficult for me to commit to an idea and actually stick to it. How do people do that? It must take a lot of willpower because I have so many crazy ideas and I just want to use them all!
Also, it’s really hard to conceptualize the essence of our relationship. We’re just too weird and random so our wedding will just have to be weird and random too.
After a lot of failed brainstorming sessions I realized that we had a “theme” all along- the story of us!
This concept allows me to be freely creative without feeling trapped to any one idea. The possibilities are endless! I can personalize every aspect of our wedding and create a more intimate experience.
My fiancé and I started dating in college, where we spent many nights in the library on “study dates” =) This inspired me to make library card engagement invitations.
I saw a few of these online, mostly utilized as save the dates for literary themed weddings. In an effort to save money I decided to just make my own. It was actually fairly simple!
- MAKE A TABLE ON MICROSOFT WORD (LITERALLY)
I used the following fonts to mimic a real library card:
- Author/Title/etc. : Calibiri
- Date stamp: Gothic MS
- Typewriter font: Courier New
It would have been really cute to use an actual date stamp but I honestly just wanted to get these done as quickly as possible. For those of you deciding to do something like this for an event invite I definitely recommend using one! I saw a self inking one for $8.89 and a simple rubber stamp for $5.12.
After playing around with different colors and fonts I printed the final product on card stock.
2. BUY LIBRARY POCKETS
I purchased these from here for only $9.94, they are available in 13 different colors. I wanted to buy a bunch for no reason just because they’re so cute! I’M CRAZY
3. GET A STAMP MADE (OPTIONAL)
We both graduated from Sac State, so I used this site to make a stamp that says PROPERTY OF SACRAMENTO STATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY. I thought it added a cute personal touch to the invitations.
THE FINAL PRODUCT!
This invite was so easy and super CHEAP while still depicting the story of us. I love how they turned out, and I love how personal they are.
