Here are a few SIMPLE & CHEAP Halloween costumes I’ve put together over the years. These ideas are perfect for when you need a last minute costume or want something more wearable and less costume-y. They only require 1. clothes you probably already own (or can be easily purchased) and 2. a few materials from your local craft store.
That being said, these are kind of supposed to have that DIY feel so don’t expect any super professional, comic-con looking creations. Haha
- POWER RANGERS
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Leggings and long sleeve shirts in blue, red, green, pink, black and yellow. Forever 21, H&M, and ASOS all have a great selection of basics.
- White felt which we sewed to our shirts to create the diamond design
- Cardboard and yellow fabric for Green Ranger’s armor
2. SISTER ACT
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Black basics: I used a pair of pleather shorts and a mesh batwing blouse that I already owned.
- White collars: I just cut the collars off of two old button ups to fasten around our necks
- Black pleather fabric and white fabric: to make the nun habits!
3. MATADOR AND (CHICAGO) BULL
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- MATADOR: Red Silk jacket, white peasant top, and red corset (all purchased separately) I also added some gold trim to the jacket.
- (CHICAGO) BULL: Bull’s jersey and horns
4. MEDIEVAL KNIGHTS
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Gray basics to wear underneath. I chose a stretchy t-shirt dress
- White fabric to make the “vests”
- Red Felt (or color/fabric of your choice) for the crest
- Silver fabric to mimic the chainmail armor
5. YOUR CONSCIENCE
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Red basics and white basics. I bought both the skirt and body suit (which Josh accidentally spilled a drink on.. GRRR) from ASOS. Josh bought his leggings from Forever 21 and cut up an old white T.
- Devil horns, halo and angel wings: all purchased on amazon
6. CLUELESS PE CLASS
All of our clothes/accessories came from our own closets! But these items can also be easily purchased at Forever 21, H&M, AA, ASOS etc.
